i remember being sent to a job on the m8 in glasgow that came down as "2 vehicle RTA, m8 westbound at the kingston bridge, TANKER vs SMALL car"

as one of my colleagues, who was infamous for legendary quotes said en route:
"aye mett, this will either be VERY serious....or a lot o' shite!"

this is one video that gives me the shits everytime i watch it - not good!

He should be sat behind the van, resolute that his journey is going to take a while longer, eyes glued to back of the van and the opposite carriageway in reddiness for anything occurring
ahead that he may need to make an evasive move for. Instead he's trying a lane change to pass the van with a HGV coming the other way, so he hasn't even got and escape route if it goes wrong.
COAST.
Concentration, on driving to the absolute exclusion of anything else.
Observation, looking as far ahead as possible
Anticipation,of anything that may occur by reading the information available
Space, create it around your vehicle which will give you
Time, to respond to events unfolding ahead.
and if you do all that, whatever occurs infront of you, you are ready for it and your chance of survival goes through the roof.

The trouble is, so many people switch off when driving and think about a million other things rather than being actually involved in the planning the journey and the job of driving. That's when they get caught out and can't react in time.

Collisions between vehicles don't just happen, there is a build up of events, information available, there to be seen. When it gets missed, is when it all goes tits up and driver error, is the biggest killer.
agreed,
Collisions just don't happen,
they are caused.

A simple system that if you adhere to 100% of the time, you will never run out of talent!

It's the concentration that is the difficult bit to maintain. When that, is allowed to lapse, the system starts to fail.

Can somebody post a video of some flowers or puppies or boobs or summat? Lighten the thread a bit?!
