no you don't need a crowbar but you could use one if you want.

open desired nipple, depress pedal fully, jam crowbar between the pedal and the front of the drivers set bolster, close nipple, remove crowbar and allow pedal to return fully to its uppermost limit of travel, then repeat the process until all air is dispelled from that brake line and caliper.

useful things crowbars.

one man bleeders are sh*t (i've got one), unless it's a pressure bleeder. i just use a bit of fishtank air line, a margarine tub and a lady with a leg and an ear.

Right, what a day ive had.

I bought one, done exactly what is says in the instructions but the following happens:

If not enough fluid in the bottle then it runs low and just pushes through air
If too much fluid in the bottle it pisses out of the reservoir cap and once even popped the cap off the reservoir @ 20psi like suggested.

When the cap stayed on but was leaking slightly i couldnt get any fluid to come out of the nipples fast enough, very small dribbles.

Also - no resistance in the pedal and the calipers arnt clamping the discs

WTF!!! is going on.

cheers

has this got abs? ive had trouble bleeding these old things up in the past. airlocks in the abs pump.

most important is to never let the fluid drain from the system. clamp flexi hoses, stick something on the end of the pipe like a bleed nipple rubber cover thingy.

the feed pipes from the master cyl to the abs pump. have you tried loosening them off at the abs pump while the pressure bleeder is on it.

It has got abs yes, the system was almost completely drained, i think that would make sense if the air is stuck in the ABS unit, that's why its back pressuring out of the reservoir i guess.

I'll have to try that next then.

Cheers dude

Interesting. I usually use a yard broom against the head restraint - much finer adjustment using the seat back rake.

Good idea - disconnect the battery, or the rear light clusters, or the brake light switch on the pedal frame. You just wouldn't believe how fast and completely the brake lights can drain a marginal battery.

BTDT.

I didnt do the above as the haynes didnt say do that, i know your website did but i just assume that was only for AUDI UR QUATTRO

Does an air lock in the ABS unit/pump sound like the cause????

Thanks
