"classic insurance" seems to depend on a number of factors.
Usually if a car has an owners club its regarded as a classic regardless of its age.
My lancia was a 1994 and the quattro 1988 and i had no problem insuring them both through classicline.
My jag is 6 years old but apparently a jag becomes a classic once its over 5 years old and i've had no problem insuring that on limited mileage, agreed value, policy with clasicline either.
I'm sure a broker could help you, especially if you have use of another car.

ps Rich is right- usually if you can have another name on the policy (usually wife/partner) it drastically cuts the premium

Classicline, about £170 pa. Audi V8, '90 or '93 car
AON (or whatever their classic section is now called) insured the '98 S4 for about £230. Classified as a 'future classic'
