Default alternator

as some of you know I bought Gordons old car from Ian in Chester last week, and drove it home without the alternator, I went to my local spares people and they gave me a CE Smiths UNA 1552, but when it arrived the mounts are slightly different, Ive just tried fitting it but the adjusting bracket won`t fit , it would need a much larger kink in the bar to fit.
I am very green on Quattros and took of the Intercooler ? to gain access to the alternator bolts ( don`t have babies fingers with arnold Swazzanegers strength in them ) Does anyone know the aftermarket part number, do I get the one that was in the boot refurbed, or make up a new adjusting bracket ? or does anyone have a working spare ?????The other difference was the original had a spade terminal for the D+ and the new one has a circular connection, any help appreciated

13mmm cranked ring on the front, 13mm socket on a simple ratchet (e.g. FACOM J.155) on the back one.

It's most likely the brushes. When you sort out getting piccies up, whip the regulator off the alternator and take a snap of the brushes.
