Any chance anyone has got a photo or drawing of the alternator with the cables attached? (Ur or Similar)
I just need to confirm their positions, earth and any seals etc. Many thanks in advance. Ian

did you get an answer to this? I'm having problem with my alternator, I recently had a re manufactued one fitted and its not charging but I have noticed a loose blue wire at the back, it looks like it should go to a blade terminal but there is nothing there to plug it in to, any ideas? Thanks, Don |

Also field excitation - if it's not connected (to the M6 terminal with an M8 nut) the alternator won't charge.
The ur-quattro is not a good source - different model years are wired differently. The 20V wiring diagram is the best - the alternator is shown as not even connected: http://www.isham-research.co.uk/quat...yp85/47_01.png |

ETKA tells porkies about alternators. When Simon Gilmore's failed in Heidelberg none of the versions listed in ETKA would fit and Bosch was out of stock - so they rebuilt his old one overnight. Bosch service in Germany is nothing short of stunning. |

Thanks for the advice chaps...the battery light was out, I rigged a connection up between the blue wire and a post on the alternater and it came on, just need to charge the battery up now and see if it holds the charge. it's a 90 amp unit and there was no male blade terminal for the blue connecter to plug in to....

It's not that intuitive, but the drawing of T1c does show the black wire being male and the blue female. T1c is usually tied to the chassis rail just behind the right headlight. |
