Default Sensor problems

Hi all, can anybody shed some light about which sensor is ment to be connected to loose wire in the pic below?

I think there's ment to be a sensor underneath the temperature gauge sensor but it has been plugged with a bolt on mine.

Also, my oil temperature gauge doesn't work, there's power going to it but it isn't recieving it's signal, can someone tell me where the sensor for it is on the engine?

It's a KU engine

Thanks very much

Si

On a KV there is a sender on the bottom of the housing, didn't know that they did a KU.

Thanks for the replies Derek, I'll have a look tomorrow for the oil temp sensor.

The KU was fitted to some Audi 100 models, but the previous owner of my GT5S swapped the original JS (I think!) engine for the KU. Problem is that the wireing is a mess and I've never worked on these before so I'm having lot's of fun sorting it out

Heres a link to ETKA (through Google Translate) if you select Audi 100/avant (top left) then 1984 model you can then select the engine and clutch bit, you can then see S751:KU down the right side, I think that must be the engine that you have.

I had a quick look and the only temp senor that I can see is one in line on one of the heater hose's (under water cooling),can't see an oil temp senor at all.

Here you have a look.
