Default Attention all KV owners

hi guys,

after having the geadgasket, radiator, and thermostat changed, my KV is still running a little warm (between 1/2 on the main roads and 3/4 in traffic)

was just wondering what other peoples are running at ?

the fan cuts in ok and it isnt using water, just wondering if this is normal as every other car ive owned has stuck at 1/2

Mine was the same, especially on a summers day, as long as your cooling fan is kicking in ,i never had a problem.

Mine (DZ) but same engine minus 1 cylinder runs here:

It used to run just below half, but I want to change the thermostat, as I think it is running too cold.

Sounds about right, it runs in the middle when moving and then raises up a little in traffic to the point where the fan kicks in. Although owning 3 KV's and not run one for the last couple of years I am relying on my swiss cheese brain.....

One thing that affects them a lot is having all of the shrouds around the radiator as this controls and maintains the correct airflow.

Last couple of months,not registering.
Normal-just below half way.
Traffic jams,fan cuts in.
If you have anti freeze in your system,it keeps cooler in the summer.

Check all hoses and the fact your water pump is working, they can knacker up. Also is the coolant clean or rusty, you may have a blocked waterway in the block or head. Also is the fan blowing the correct way, i.e. sucking cold air into the engine bay and not blowing it out. If you have disconnected the wires just check. Also does bottom of rad get hot or stay cold. All simple things to check. Let us know Gouldy.

will have a look, think the fan is blowing from inside engine bay outwards, is that right?? , will the connector go on either way ? or just one way

the coolant is all new due to the headgasket, and is nice and clear

not using oil or water either

no!.....

i was surprised by the apparent 'sensitivity' (?) of the scale on my 100 when i started using it. it does go up and down a hell of a lot! and thats with a new stat.
