Hello all,
I have an Audi 80 2.0i SE and I'm trying (well I say I am, my mechanic chum is!) to do various things to it. My latest idea is to lower it. However looking on the net, I have no idea how far 40mm, 35mm, 30mm. Anyone got any advice on this? Also, my mechanic chum recommended changing the shocks at the same time - but again I'm clueless as to which ones to go for! Can I just buy a generic 'lowering kit' from an online store? I know I could ask my chum again, but I don't want to keep pestering him as he's doing all the work for practically nothing! Any advice greatly appreciated. ![]() |

My brother lowered his 1990 Coupe 40mm all round. The handling is great but the ride is very hard, you can feel every bump.

Thanks for the info. I wonder if it's a case of not lowering it quite that much or getting better shocks if I do go for the 40mm.

depends on what kind of roads you are driving on too, too low on country roads might not be too good.
i have a friend who has lowered an A4 so much that he is now looking at lowering his whole engine as it has thrown out all the geometry in the front end.. ![]() |

I don't think I'm going to go quite that low!
Is it a case of generic shocks and springs or are there ones specifically for the model? |

Check out VAG80's 80 on here with the super sport kit from Venom Motorsport - he highly recomends it
40mm drop is max on these the 60mm is far too much in my opinion - I'm going with the venom kit in the spring although mine's a sport, so may only need a 30mm coz its lower than a standard model already
