I have to say it's a pity that thread died as I would like to take Rich to task on that subject.
I don't know what the show was that you were watching Rich but I fail to imagine a single positive aspect of the American penal system. I once worked for a State Government Minister whose Department studied the U.S. system and it was bloody appalling. Their justice and penal systems are a mess, varying wildly from State to State, and generally provide next to no rehabilitation of those who find themselves caught in it. In fact, what the right-winged Americans (and similarly aligned groups in other countries) seem to want is just the thing they decry as barbaric behaviour, eg: Sharia Law. So, what was it in this show you were watching that appealed so much? PS: have you ever watched the movie, Ghosts Of The Civil Dead? You should! Even though it is a fiction, it is very firmly based on the privatised system so popular in the U.S. and it will leave you feeling quite disturbed! |

I believe the American Justice systeme is full of cases of mal-justice. To many cases of people being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Especially black, young men.

I think people should be re-educated and re-habilitated.

yes there are cases of injustice i remember the one about the woman who called the police about something going on outside her house and when they arrived they arrested her and took her in and several male police officers stripped her and really treated her bad,it was disgusting but i am talking about ones that have done the crime ,let them rot

There is the "some people are evil" philosophy, however all of us start off as innocent kids, and it is the things that happen to us in life which make people the way they are.
I am not saying that mass murderers are going to respond to a bit of light TV, and talking to a psychiatrist, however for more minor crimes, with repeat offenders, if that is the only life they have known, then education should let them see what they could become.

no the time must suit the crime, but saying that having been burgled twice in the last three years i would quite happily take a baseball bat to the shits that did it ,when they were caught they were done for some other crimes and mine became a taken into consideration,i had things taken that cannot be replaced plus i now lock the doors on the house which is somethiong i never used to do as i live away from town ,what do you think we should do then ,tell them not to do it again give them a job and a house paid for by the workers of this world and hope they wont do it again,i dont think so ,i left home at 13 and everything i own i worked for bloody hard and i did not do it so some shite can come and take it ,if i can make a go of it anyone can,i left school with hardly any qualifications and as we now see they dont seem to get you anywhere, hard work and dedication and persistance is what does it ,to many spongers and lazy theiving twats in this country ,i know my veiws might not be the same as others well fine ,see how you feel when youve been robbed or your mum or gran ,then tell me what you think,

Had the broken into in Acton the other Saturday night, was out of the unit less than a minute, quarter light smashed, door opened and my mobile was gone thankfully my laptop bag's shoulder strap got caught around the gearlever so that was still in the cab
Thankfully for the little buggers sake he was long gone by the time I had realised what had happened or the cabs jacking handle might of been around his head ![]()
