Thanks for advice
i got someone to pull bonnet release and bonnet opens fine but when shut bonnet is lose down left hand side cable seems to be working fine so appears to be a problem with left hand latch not releasing or locking properly and tried tightening but still the same so maybe be the spring on the left hand latch?

smash the life outta the catch with universal spray grease. Then work the catch until smooth and free.

Many thanks for reply's
I did have a better look at it today and i noticed that the coil spring on the left latch was longer than the one on the right so i had to adjust it up to the same as the working latch needed to be taken up by a whole coil.
But now all good and working fine again.
