Guys, just chill a bit please.

Phil P knows his stuff from comments made by other 200 owners that have been in touch with me over the years. I know he's a very reasonable man when it comes to helping 200 owners out. He is a genuine asset to the classic-audi forum.

Groomus is in a bit of a fix and has explained to me how the situation stands regards his 200 dilemma. He'd dearly love it to go to a good home but, during these times, it just isn't practical. Put yourself in his shoes and you'd understand.

Now, the trouble with forums is that sometimes things get misread, misinterpreted or just plain misunderstood and then we have little grievances boiling up out of what should be nothing. It's also just too easy sometimes to type before you engage brain and say things you might not say if you were speaking face to face.

We are all guilty of it from time to time and the best way to end these silly spats is just to have the balls to own up to being wrong occasionally.

This forum is the best classic audi forum there is. If one has a penchant for winding people up, there's a forum elsewhere that'll suit you just fine but it's not this one!!

Hey up all.

Bloomin 'eck, this is getting abit intence!
As I said, if ya keep the car Steve I'll gladly pop over but trouble is I just can't get for about 2 weeks - just too snowed under.

I think we're all fond of and protective of Steve on here, and just been on phone to him several times as he's struggling with the 100 now (poor chap) but lets all get on and continue helping each other.

Hi Phil, yeah the pump was shagged, tested both flow and pressure output and it was terrible, just enough to run OK but well below what was required for a nice injector spray pattern and smooth running. Managed to get the fuelling within in spec but it took some doing and really wasn't very strong as the load increased. I just wish I could have found him a cheaper pump so I could have fitted it for him and perhaps we'd not be here now but it wasn't to be. -

Steve needs to get the 100 going happily then decide carefully what he wants to do as I said, it's only worth taking the time and effort to get the 200 correct if he keeps it or sells it running (which I think is a good idea) but if it's being stripped then if it turns out that pump, reg' or filter are on a bit wrong it really doesn't matter as it'd be in bits...

Anyhow, I'm here if I can help Steve but just let me know what ya wanna do bud.

Did you check the gauze in the bottom of the pump?

There's an Audi TSB about removing it because of it clogging with tank lining loosened by the benzene in unleaded.

And when they've finished all this freebee maintenance, can they pop round here to look at the WR, oh, maybe help do a 20vT engine swap on the RallyRep and do an oil change on the Land Rover...

Steve, I've offered some time previously but realistically I can't do anything until mid september and it would only really be a pair of additional eyes as I don't know these systems too well although I do have bit of logical thought which may be useful.

And this simply boils down to the following options when all the emmotion is taken out.

1. Rely on the goodwill of people on the forum to visit. You already have two offers but you will always be at the mercy of logistics so you could have a bit of a wait and it could be inderterminate. It still may be costly in the long run too

2. Continue to put time and effort into yourself into it, only you can comit that knowing your knowledge and self belief. Again time consuming

3. Call an mechanic in. Costs money but could be fixed easily and your off and running. You can then run the car or sell here for a bit of cash

4. Sell her as a project. Quickly done but you won't get much for a non runner

5. Break her as spares. You still have to put effort in to strip her, demand for these is not huge and you may only get a nominal amount back or be left with a shed load of spares that you cant shift. Again may take time to move the parts on if ever and you may only get as much as you would for a project car.

6. Send her to the scrappers and move on

So rationally speaking there's your choices, not much I know but taking all the heat out that's what your left with. Only you can make that call fella.
