To be honest, I haven't done it sooner because to start with I thought I was asking silly money at £2250 but obviously I'm not!

The OP post is near identical to my old one.
About 180 odd were sold in the UK from memory, great all rounder imho

Must admit I'm a little tempted at the price but am put off by potential running costs (compared to my old 16V) and the also the rust issues.

I had 2 over 4 years. One with 188k the other a mint original one on 98k. Other than fluids and tyres and a cam belt change NOTHING went wrong with either car. Very reliable, most reliable of any of the B3/4 cars i have owned, over engineered engine. I did 1500miles a month in both mine and averaged 23mpg in the old one, then coupe did a regualr 28mpg and woudl easy do 30+ on a run.
