Im sorry, but if you've only been driving for 6 months/ a year etc and think your better than someone thats been driving for 20+ years, then your just an idiot!
Regards the car the chap had, i.e. a TT Quattro, it just goes to show that insurance premiums wont stop some people from getting fast cars when they clearly dont know how to handle them! A chap i know on my course uni has recently just got through his 6th BRAND NEW car in 8 months, a Ford Focus RS (over 25k's worth), obviously mummy and daddy just keep paying for everything. He's stuffed 6 cars, in less than a year but still doesnt seem to understand that he could be dead and that he is quite obviously a shite driver!! It annoys me so much..

Regards cycling in busy areas, the best approach i think, as others have mentioned, is to make yourself as obvious as possible. Ride in the middle of the lane (sod it, your probably going faster than the traffic anyway), motorists can see you and will have to make a proper manuever to get passed you, not try and do some dodgy cutting past etc just as you decide to turn right......obviously you'd do an obvious hand signal, but i saw someone just the other day on a bike randomly just turn right at a junction, he got through fine but the cars behind had to brake causing a smash up............twat!

Mate of a mate is like that. mummy and daddy bought him a mini......ended up on an embankment. car never drove "right" again even after the jig. we all dont mind a "play" but he would rather crash then say enoughs enough!! They now bought him a new type R......which will last 5mins im sure.
