thank god she passed mot

as we both got enough on our plates what with my 100 failing mot as well

talk about head f**** i just about had enough with him up their giving it all he can just to see how much we can take before we break ...

i got close to breaking last night an thought f*** it i get the mot done an put her up for sale

as the money would come in handy right now and it would be less stress for me

but having had a couple of hours sleep in the night i realised i would be back to square one again an knowing how much i have bonded with her already it would be a mistake so im keeping her along with the stuff him up their throws at me am i mad or just plain bonkers

it was only last weekend that i was saying i carnt wait to get her to her first bc meet an show her off as she do look bloody good for her age .....

anyway im realy pleased nessy passed mot hun it lightens the load a little

Always best to sleep on it.We always do this hun.

Always works too.

Yours pisses mine when it comes to condition. It drives beautifully too.It also goes really well if you toe it a bit,as we discovered on the way from the MOT station, ahem.

You just dont find them like that on a regular basis hun, well, there is that beautiful one in Lago on ebay at the moment but yours is nicer (apart from the colour)

Stick with iiiiiiit, you know it makes sense.

Love you

Hellooooo

So,pre-Benvisit,Iam to renew the suspension first.

The brakes are freshly serviced.

So,a few months back I procured some ebay stuff.Mostly OEM,with the exception of the rear shocks which are Unipart (COUGH!!!).They were £10 the pair, couldnt resist it.
The fronts are Delphi Lockheed, good enough for me.
Theres also a guy on the bay at the moment selling OEM lower track control arms, which curiously were the same as Alfa 75 ones.Handy to know.

So,before I go in....do the front struts on the 200s need about 50ml of oil putting in the bottom so they dont rattle, like the Coupe??? Found this out to my cost before.

Time to get down and dirty tomorrow anyway!

Massive parts Siiiiiiiir??

Hola followists of this thread!

OK,well just to bring interested folk up to date......

I took the 200T to Ben at AV Performance yesterday morning.
Big Thanks to Dest (Martyn) for the ride back in the splendid S2 Avant

I have,in contradiction to the previous post, and due to lack of top mounts and wheel bearing funds, delayed the front suspension rebuild until shes back.
I do have the lowering springs for her -35mm,track control arms, good quality new front shocks and bushes.

So,tomorrow the head comes off to see the damage.Pics will follow via Ben at some point. He said he still has to upload more of Gordons, ones of the TT hes done, and then mine.

Shes to get (unless more stuff pops up!),new head gasket, skim, stitch welding to exhaust manifold, new gaskets for that, valve stem seals, guides, water pump, cambelt.
On reassembly a WR Turbocharger will be fitted, the K26 model, the K24 coming off.Still in fine working order, and will be shortly for sale through this forum only.

Im reeeeally excited. We've had to cancel the work a couple of times due to Ben being just soooo popular he couldnt get his head outa the door to get home at night.Sleeping on the workshop floor became a bind for the poor Orbus after some weeks, and it got to the point where fitting an A8 plug became a long drawn out affair!!!

Anyway,Im sure when I pick her up Fri/Sat the drive home will be much much fun.
Its gonna be a shame to lower her in one sense. With her dropped,I wont feel the lifting of the front suspension so much adding to the buzz, but will have that all important traction.Theres far too much weight fore of the front wheels on these standard,so a wise move Im told.

So,there we have it.
Dust shall be sprinkled, and hope all to be well soon, and be able to show some photos to boot!

Cattus

Hello,

Make sure your differential lube is topped up. Audi automatics are known for shredding the ring gears. I have 2 bad units going to the metal recyclers. A good way to check on the health of an auto box diff is to pull the governor and speedometer drive out and observe the teeth. They should be in good condition and dripping with lube. If they are ground up, you may be in for problems.

good luck,
Alan

Thanks Alan

I hope its not too late

I say this as I have an intermittent speedo problem which is most definately effected upon cornering.

Ive never checked the diff lube and have just asked Ben to check it.Its awaiting the exhaust manifold to come back from the Stitch Welders now,and to have the wheel bearings finished replacing.

Im very excited here.

Im also hoping my Autotrans isnt too far gawn!

Other areas to check. On US 5000 Turbos (200 UK) the speedometer is electronic and gets it's signal from a sending unit that is driven by a gear on the dif. Make sure you check the wiring harness on the sending unit for good contact.

Thanks guys.

Alas,mine isnt an electronic speedometer.

Its a very very early car,a 1984 model.

The digital readout isnt even listed in the users handbook.
It displays MPG and GPH (Gallons Per Hour??)
Suffice it to say noones seen another, unless someone here has.....

Let me clarify. The speedo readout is analog, but the internals are electronically driven (similar to a tach). Hope this helps.
