Default Audi 200 turbo starter motor...grrr

Hi peeps

Got the car running smoothly and the brakes seem fine now but the bloody starter motor has gone! Solenoid doesn't engage fair enough and I just get a 'clonk' sound!

Are these the same as the Coupes? Does anyone have one that'd be willing to sell? The car can't be used at the moment and I want to get her going again ASAP!

PLEASE HELP!

my car makes a similar clunk/judder when i try starting it...does it happen for about a half second then stop?. . if so that could be the fault with my rather than a jammed engine?

Yes, half a second. I checked the engine wasn't jammed, could turn it over by hand. So in answer to your question, it's probably the starter motor. Will fit mine early next week and report back just incase I'm wrong!

Well...they've got better over time! Not 100% convinced they're ok yet as I've only had the car running properly for two days...then the starter motor went!

Last time I drove it locally then went to work and back, it was fine. Will let you know what happens when I've got it running again!

Starter stops after half revolution? Sounds like brushes are gone. Nothing special and it's cheap, if changed by owner. Basically all changeable stuff what's inside starter motor itself [not counting solenoid in] costs, let's say, 20-30 pounds, of course, not at dealership
