What can I do to make the brakes better!!?? Would like to keep original wheels really, but I'm sure a small brembo would fit! Also rear brakes seem pathetic, what's a common mod here?

Don't know about the rears but i saw this set up using the original 8 x 15 Ronals for the front with specially made brackets with zimmerman discs. You need 986 (Brembo) Boxster 2.5/2.7 calipers part # 986 351 421/2: I have seen this mod on a Ur and handled them, they are very light and just right for the UR as the ur quattros weight is within the scope of the 986 caliper can handle. A good upgrade and look awesome! When your done we need pictures.

Apikol make a steel cast bracket which I believe is suitable. Also marketed through 034 motorsport.
It's a simple enough bracket, though, and any machine shop should be able to make one given the specifications. After all, it's a block of aluminium, machined, with 4 holes and coil inserts. Another alternative for a WR is to swap to G60 calipers. It's a bolt on mod, disc goes from 280x22 to 276x25, and you get another piston. In reality, all of the brake options are more than adequate in normal use- I encountered brake fade on the original single pot caliper setup on the race circuit, so that was the prime reason for the upgrade. If your brakes are lacking in normal use, look for other causes in the brake circuit, other than calipers and discs. At the rear, a direct replacement is the vented setup from the RR. You'd need calipers, caliper brackets, discs. It's the same setup as used on early S6, V8 also. Green stuff pads work nice

I will check those suppliers out for the bracket I need, thank you!
It is still in the restoration stage. Body has been getting some serious TLC to make it perfect. No plastic parts in there and all new exterior trims/door seals etc etc! ££££ But the brakes haven't been used for a long time and i'm not the sort of person to skimp. I am fairly tempted to be placing a TTRS engine in the front of the car so bigger brakes are a must, im hoping to retain the std wheels, if I can, and this seems the ideal setup to try first. With regards to the rears, I will look into the RR setup. I was also tempted to fit the same 288mm disc and Porsche calipers, but add a handbrake caliper. Obviously this will need a bracket created, but that isn't a huge problem. Also add a brake line restrictor to limit the pressure to the rear so it isn't over powering. (Its slightly for looks if i'm honest, but also functional) |

There's little benefit in putting a large brake setup on, then limiting the supply, and then adding extra mass with a separate caliper.
I do like the better look of the RR setup, but in my case, I went ahead with it as it's exactly the same brake parts on 4 of my cars, then. So one set of spares in my stock! As for fronts, I've always felt that Audi let the side down by not having a better setup in the first place. Yes, the standard brakes are up to the job, but don't really make a point of being a sports car, and once they start to age (approximately 6 minutes in winter conditions) they look crap. That said; twin pots were retrofitted to the Audi V8 which is a much heavier car, and standard fit on the 200turbo. So they do the job.

There are/were two AP setups- from a technical/aesthetic PoV, they look great, and both carry an impressive price tag.
