Are your ones seized?

I have had good success freeing them off. Removing the caliper from the car, clamping it in a vice, remove the return spring, then lever the actuator arm (only comes up about a centimetre) clean and lube the shaft. Repeatedly forcing the shaft in and out, cleaning and lubing, then turning it to force the piston out. Again levering the arm up to clean and re lube. Winding the piston back in and repeat.

Starting with a set of callipers that the handbrake mechanism had to be hammered to move it took about 20 minutes to have them completely free and working again.

I have never had any success with that I have even tried to fully strip them but you need a special set of circlip pliers to get the last piece of mechanism out. When I have tried to free the arms they have all just gone floppy and no longer push the pistons out

I didn't use to bother trying to free them off as I had been told it didn't work/they would just seize up again very quickly.

However read about somebody freeing them off, and told my dad, he freed off my old s2 ones for his 100 (they were solid, not leverable at all, needed a sizeable hammer to start them moving, and they have been on his car for a while now.

I have also done another two sets like that which work perfectly.

I think it is worth a shot (for me anyway) as it is quick and doesn't cost anything. Now worth paying a garage though, and if they did just seize again it could be a pain.

3 days later they were back with me, painted up, shiny and working fine for about £130.
