I asked Audi UK's Customer Services about using E10 in my 1992 Audi 80 as there was conflicting advice between the government's applicability website and motoring organisation's 'E10 generally not suitable for any pre-2002 vehicles.'
Their prompt reply is copied below: Further to your recent email regarding E10 Fuel Compatibility with your 1992 Audi 80. Most cars built since 2000 are also E10 compatible but, if in doubt, you can check a car and engine using the government compatibility checker here: https://check-vehicle-compatibility-...ervice.gov.uk/ E10 petrol is cleared for use in all Audi petrol-fuelled vehicles, excluding the following vehicles: • First-generation direct-injection engines: o Audi A2 1.6 FSI, model years 2003-2005 o Audi A3 1.6 FSI, model year 2004 o Audi A3 2.0 FSI, model year 2004 o Audi A4 2.0 FSI, model years 2003-2004 • Audi A4 Saloon petrol engine models with original equipment manufacturer (OEM) parking heater, of model years 2001-2008. • Audi A4 Avant petrol engine models with OEM parking heater of model years 2002-2008. After liaising with our Technical Support Team, I have been informed that they do not have any information regarding older vehicles. Consequently, their advice is NOT to use E10 petrol. You should continue to use E5 petrol (standard unleaded). You might find it useful. |
