Mmmmmm. A tipple of the Balvenie. Yummy good, I almost always try to keep a bottle of the Doublewood 12y on hand.

I had a tipple of Glenrothes at a foody gathering Saturday night. Very nice, and new to me. Sweet and faintly fruity, very little smoke or peat. Glenrothes is a Speyside Malt that seems a little like a Highland variety.

well, I must say that was a rather good choice me thinks.

Next one I buy will be after a recommendation on here from any one of our more discerning whisky aficionado's!

Coxy, I absolutely recommend Penderyn Single Malt. Hope you can find it.

Hmmm, a Welsh whisky?!

Saw a Japanese single malt in the shops yesterday as well.

You can buy Penderyn via there on-line shop if it's not available in the supermarket, so always a possibility to hit the go to checkout button.
never heard of a Welsh single malt. Could be worth a punt of one of their half bottles actually.

Yamazaki is excellent quality. The Japanese have been working at it for nearly 100 years. They feel in love with Scotch pretty shortly after England began active commerce with them.

For me their whisky seems a lot like the blends. Like Chivas. A level, even flavor, smooth but completely un-acertive.

Well, got home form work today and my wife said she had been a supermarket whore.
Did the main shop in Waitrose, then called via Sainsburys's but no luck, so stopped in Morrisons on the way back and voila!

She surprised me with a bottle of Penderyn Grand Slam, which I must say, is rather superb!
So big thanks to Matt for the recommendation and an even bigger thanks to Alex (Lexi) for treating me to a bottle!!
