Lack of umph!

Driving the UR home last night, put my foot down for the last stretch of by-pass and well it seemed a bit flat

, then again this morning a quick blip passed some road works and it just seemed to go flat about 4000 rpm. Car is starting fine, sounds sweet and running great in all other respects anyone got any ideas where to start?
