On the news this morning I heard the government is considering introducing checks on motorists' health every ten years.
They will be looking at eyesight, reaction times, general health etc. and we will expect to pay £80 for the privilege. I'm all for ensuring drivers are not a danger to others, but it's bound to cost at least twice as much as they expect! Another layer of bureaucracy we will have to deal with! In theory these ideas all sound very clever, but in practice they are only as reliable as the people operating them. Just how many hoops will you have to jump through to sort out any mistakes? I suppose the next thing will be mandatory re-taking of our driving tests every few years! ![]() PS. Happy New Year everyone! |
