Steering wheel spline?

Fancy losing the cartwheel sized steering wheel so been nosing on ebay but had a thought (hurts when it happens

) is the spline on the B3 the same as a particular year of VW i.e small spline for mk1 Golf/Mk2 up to '90 or does it have the later slide on spline which is larger diameter? Can't go look as the car is presently 7 miles away.
