For sale is my 1990 Audi Coupe with the 2.3 5 cylinder, 10v 'NG' engine, which, according to some enthusiasts, is the best sounding 5 cylinder engine Audi has made. Those who know what they're looking at will appreciate the Coupe as the last of the 'solid' cars Audi built.

The car has covered approximately 125300 miles, which, again for those who know, is nothing for these. It was MOTd in December last year (MOT expires end of December 2011) and it sailed through with no advisory notices. Tax runs out at the end of November 2011.

Prior to the MOT, I had some work done on the car:
> New shocks
> New springs (lowers around 40/50mm approx)
> New drop links
> New front discs
> New front pads
> Wiring work to the front lights (which was carried out by an auto electrician)

The car has also had a new custom exhaust from the CAT back. The CAT was removed as I wasn't happy with the fit- I believe it was a generic item- and a new flexi section (de-cat) welded in place, ensuring that the O2 sensor was retained. The new back-box has a twin tail pipe which replaces the single pipe monstrosity that was on the car previously. My mechanic actually commented on how solid the car is, particularly for it's age.

Since the MOT I've covered literally 100 miles (yes, 100 miles!) so I can't see it needing any work for the next one and, despite this lack of use, in the past few days I've changed the oil & filter just for peace of mind.

As ever, a car of this age doesn't come without its issues unfortunately: In the past month, the oil pressure gauge has been reading lower than normal once the engine has got up to temperature. I know the pump itself is fine as the gauge reads a very healthy 4/5 bar when the car is first started and, with the cap off, I can see the head is getting plenty of oil, however, once warm, the pressure drops (all be it very slowly) to around 1-1.5 bar and the engine tends to sound a bit 'tappy'. After speaking with a few Audi specialists/enthusiasts, all have come to the same conclusion that it's likely the pick-up in the sump is partially blocked/clogged. Apparently, this is a common problem on these cars when they aren't used regularly. The solution is to remove the sump and clean/replace the pick-up but I simply don't have the time or inclination as I have a wedding on the horizon.

The only other 'issue', if you can call it that, is the general 'wear & tear' condition; The interior has seen better days. It appears the car has had replacement seats from another Audi at some point, I don't believe they're originally from this Coupe anyway. The central locking doesn't work, in fact, only the passenger side door locks at all. Most will know that these cars were galvanized therefore rot is hard to come by, in fact, the only place I'm aware of there being any rust is on the driver's side front wing which has a bit of bubbling. Apparently, this is caused by the inner arch liner rubbing against the wing. There are, however, a few dings & scratches around the car and it's sporting various shades of red, hardly surprising given it's had 20 UK winters to contend with. Other than that, she's solid.

As already stated, I have a wedding in the near future and, given the fact the car is used only a few miles every week, it seems a bit of a waste, it simply doesn't get used. The price reflects everything I've mentioned although I'm not averse to offers so please feel free to ask. I've tried to be as thorough & as honest as possible, however, please don't hesitate to get in touch should you have any questions or wish to see some additional photographs of the car.

PM me should you require further information or pics.

Thanks,

Paul
