Help
Have been renewing the gearbox and forward rear diff mounts on my Coupe Quattro this week and have hit a snag with the drivers side rear diff mount. All the other centre bolts for the other mounts have come out easily after undoing the 17mm nut but this one is seized solid in the mount. (rusted?) It really is stuck - have given it a good seeing to with a lump hammer and then tried jacking it against the weight of the car - but still no movement.Have a replacement bolt ready to go on with the new mount so not worried about damaging it Any tips would be greatly appreciated.Cheers, Steve |

Steve you need to get the bolt to turn, that will break the seal as it sits in a sleeve that sits in the middle of the mount..

Cheers Derek - will give it a go tommorrow, space is a bit limited as the hex bolt head is on top of the diff arm with the mount below it (mount is above the diff arm on passengers side). There was a tube fitted to the passengers side mount and a much longer bolt used.
Don't think there's enough clearance to get a socket on it - will have to try with a spanner. Thanks for the offer mate - will let you know how i get on |

All sorted now thanks Derek
Bit of a mystery how this one was so corroded all the others came out easily - guess this one gets the most weathering road spray etc. Refiited all the new mounts using copper grease on the bolts so hopefully won't have same problem when i do the full subframes re-furb that i have been promising myself |
