Lol you got the filter on the right way round then?

cant become airlocked as the pump will force fuel around the system.
Likely youve disturbed the wiring plugs to the pump perhaps?

One thing to try,is the fuel pump relay???????
On one of mine,it would start, run for 20 minutes and then cut out.I thought it was dirt in the tank(or clogged, fuel filter),because after leaving it for about 10 minutes,it would start(1st time)again.I thought, it could be the dirt settling back down.
I changed both fuel filters,to find(in the end) it was a faulty fuel pump relay.

it's only the early cars (pre 86) that had the pre-filter.

A non starter on the KV can only be one of two things. spark and fuel. Unless the timing has gone miles out but unlikely in this case

Are you getting spark ?

Are you getting fuel through ?

A little late to add to this thread, but I also have a KV with similar symptoms. A few months back I had troubles as posted on here, which turned out to be seized pump. Car since been in for some bodywork & now runs like a pile of s**t. Won't run after initial start until coaxed with lots of throttle prodding & gradually building up revs; so thought warm up reg, but when (eventually) warmed would rev, but died as soon as you go to pull away. Tried pump - yet another: & + terminal snapped off the new pump. taped up connector just to try it & no different. So will try another pump I know is good & then poss Warm up Reg. I wonder if blocked filter would cause it, or accumulator not doing it's job, but I thought that was just to keep pressure in system? I'll have another go tomorrow, but any thoughts meantime? Sorry to highjack thread, but seems you're sorted stoop44rio Cheers. G.

Undo the banjo bolt at the strut turret and check for debris - both in the line and also in the banjo itself.

You can use the Z bridge from position 8 in the fuse box in place of the fuel pump relay to run the pump and push fuel through.

If there is any debris, dump a bottle of injector cleaner in the tank.

I've just had this on mine after replacing fuel lines. The banjo bolt was partially blocked. After clearing th debris, the car wouldn't run properly but the injector cleaner has cured that
