i had a phone call tonight from a mate who is having problems with his B4 80 it is a 2.0
ABK engine it runs rough at idle until you unplug the maf sensor then runs ok so he's fitted a new one it's no better he's also said that he can't set up the timing as the mark are jumping all over the place,i've told him a few things to look at has anyone got any ideas as to wot the problem could be any info would be welcomed (the head has just been rebuilt)

that i'm not 100% sure, but it's not right as you should be able to set the timing with it idling with a strobe light which he can't as the marks are jumping alover the place

There is a relay under the drivers side of the lower section of the dash, you have to remove the tray, there is a relay which controlls the ecu has a no 6 on it I think. This relay costs £10 from audi, We changed the cat, lamba sensor, distibuter, leads, all sensors, all genuine parts and the car still played up untill this cheap relay was changed.
