Default Audi Sport colours

We've probably all seen the genuine articles in the flesh. Works cars painted in both Audi International livery and Audi Sport (UK) cars. This question has remained a mystery to me despite having seen all of the above in Ingolstadt and Daventry........

White is white......
Red is red.....
Grey is grey.......

BUT, I've seen more images where the inky-brown colour looks more like 'Midnight Blue' than I care to mention. Am I alone?

In the early 80's I would have defied anyone to tell me that the colour at the back wasn't a specific shade of dark blue. Then, all the works cars I saw were most definitely a brown colour at the back. I first thought this was specific to the UK cars but the one in the museum in Germany is certainly brown too.

Does anyone see brown in this livery:

Or here:

Or even here:

Is it a trick of the light, the camera, or is it in fact NOT BROWN???

It must be reflecting blue off the sky or something in these shots. I do have a rear pic of the same Monte car with a brownish colour, but the whole pic has a bit of a sepia tinge to it so it's difficult to tell.

When I originally did my car, I purposefully picked a very dark blue for these bits. IMO, it actually looks better than the brownish colour. Still, when it gets done properly it will have to be right....
