i did this on a jetta about 5 year ago and i simply put an audi coupe bottom end, and a golf gti head up top, penny's in the injector holes lol followed by the injector seat things. carb manifold on and away it went. does no body put the 2l 16v into older 80s? that would be ideal especially as 170bhp doesnt seem hard to get.

Have a look on www.clubgti.co.uk
Lots of info on 2 litre conversions, including 8v and 16v. I would like to do 16V one day. 3A is the 2 litre bottom end out of a F/G/H reg Audi 80 Sport, and is the same size as the 1.8. 6A/9A is the 2litre 16v bottom end (people use Mk2 Golf GTI 16V head - KR for this). Or use an ABF out of a Seat Toledo / Ibiza 16V, as they are probably much newer cars, and you can "chip" the ECU Cheers Steve |

What's the reason for such problems? If u want KR engine [mk2 gti golf 16v], then put it in there, and not only it's head and block from other
And so on...Pimpdriver, I like that txt about chipping atmospheric engine's ECU. Interesting, what kind of chip will make more air to enter engine, so extra fuel can be provided for increased power? Reason why turborcharged engines can be chipped is very simple - it increases boost. Only thing that can be chipped in atmospheric petrol engine - modern EFI's have slower response to throttle and some other things because of "ecology" - unlike old engines, where u put down pedal and injector can't do anything other than provide fuel in needed amount So only pro for ABF is that it's newber, but it's ECU must be upgraded, otherwise old KR will outperform it.Back to topic - u can place there any VAG R4 engine manufactured up to 2000. year, later ones as well, but I think, FSI engines have new block layout - unlike old R4, which can be traced back to B1 and C1 and maybe more Otherwise, engine can be swapped only with bolting it in place and biggest problem will be wiring harness. Of course, u can leave your k-jet, if u think it's enough and u will place there only 2.0 8v. U can place there 1.8 20vt as well, only there will be some electrical issues. Ahh, and also - better is to buy audi engines, because vw engine's manifolds can't be used in audis.P.S vag80 why only 1.9? U have 2.0 bore but u still have 1.8 stroke ![]() |
