Trying to find some history....

I've recently purchased a 1982 Audi 80 CD 5S.
It's in immaculate condition with a genuine 28,000 mile on the clock with MOT's to prove.
And of course, it has the superb 5 pot engine in!
OK, that's the easy bit, here's the bit where my history looks a bit faded.
The chap who bought the car went over to Audi in Germany to collect 2 identical cars for himself and his business partner. The log book states that the vehicle was imported in 1982 and the vin# relates to a 1982 car WAVZZZ812Cxxxxxxx. Both cars were then driven back to the UK, so I can presume that they bought the cars new from Germany. Both cars imported were RHD models, so I can only presume they may have been special order.
What I can't find out was how many Audi 80 CD 5S were actually sold in the UK, else why would someone go to the lengths of going to Germany to collect 2.
Does anyone have any production figures relating the the Audi 80 CD and more importantly, RHD models??

I've trawled the internet but once again, I have drawn a blank!

Good idea!!

I know someone did that on the S2 forum to get numbers of S2's and RS2's registered in the UK. Myabe be worth giving them a buzz, but they may only be able to tell me what is left.

they'd probably charge £50 instead of £5!

hehhehehehehh yes but I have got a lot of history for my car from the dealer for nothing
