Red face This is a new one!!!

Hi Guys,

I have a totally new problem (possibly), got in the car tonight and started up. Got out the car park and sat in the rush hour traffic - cold engine light goes so put the heater fan on (only works at full speed, another job to sort out) and hot air comes out........

This is where it gets interesting, after fan on for a minute wiper blades start going, so turned fan off and the wipers go out about 10 seconds later. Thought that must be a one off so put the fan on and the same happens again after about a minute.

Got home, parked up and went in. 30 minutes later went to the shops and thought try again and yes it happened again

Any ideas?

Not sure where to look on fusebox, it is a strange one.

I would agree with John start at the wiper relay.

thinking out loud, is the fan back feeding the earth system and a weak wiper relay is closing therefore bring the wipers on??

I haven't the faintest idea about electrics, but do remember reading something about a faulty X relay being mentioned with regard to a similar problem.

X relay could be the problem - it's used for high current devices like wipers and fans etc.

position 5 in the fuse box

Thanks for the feedback, I will get a new X relay and new wiper relay and start there.

Watch this space for the exorcism
