Arrow it's a mystery...

Oh its a mystery...
and I dont think Toyah Wilcox can help cuz she was more in to driving horse driven chariots than Audi's!

So Guys, it's over to you please...
the photo below is of the area between my B4 80 ABK air filter box and the 'Audi' embossed silver block thingy (not sure of its name but the throttle valve adapter is above it at furthest end as you look in to the engine bay) ->

At the bottom of the photo there are two L connector grommets; one has a breather pipe in it which connects to another L connector grommet at the nearest end of the air filter box (can't be seen in this photo), the other L connector grommet is empty.
At the top of the photo you will notice a square tab sticking out of the air filter box with a hole in it.

Found this diagram but as you will see there are no L connector grommets or square tabs with holes on the air filter box:
http://audi.7zap.com/en/rdw/audi+80+.../129-129022/#2

Now I did find a piece of breather pipe laying on my engine tray a while back but reckon I must have chucked it as it's not in any of my spares boxes, it was the same size as the other one though, so I'm wondering if this had perhaps fallen out of that now empty L connector grommet or not? -
if it did fall out, well where does the other end connect? I cant see/find another L connector grommet on or around the air filter box (or maybe I'm just not looking in the right places) so can only assume that it must tail off through the tab hole?
if it didnt fall out, well should the additional L connector grommet be empty or not?

Hoping that someone can help me solve this mystery please?

Okay thanks mikes2...

so link for the vacuum system diagram->
http://audi.7zap.com/en/rdw/audi+80+.../1/133-133010/

Items 4, 5, 15, 16 & 17 on the diagram are hoses & pipes of sorts, but all of those are present, so could you tell me what you're seeing that I'm not please?

[NOTE] just had another good look around my boy's engine bay again, but nope, still cant find/see/feel any more empty L connector grommets, not on the air filter box or the silver block thingy!

We're not seeing the vacuum diagram.

The vacuum diagram should be on a sticker under the bonnet somewhere and should look something like this -

That's obviously a v6 not a four pot but that's what they look like.

and I dont recall seeing any sticker like that under my boy's bonnet either, but I will have another scout around later today to see if there is one, and will update my thread in due course, in the meantime, thanks!
