Default Water inside cabin... but where from?

The passenger side front carpet in my Audi 100 is constantly wet, im trying to track down where the water is coming in from but does anyone know if its a commen fault with these models?

Im fed up of scraping ice from the INSIDE of the screen!

Could be a couple of things.

The first and simplest place to check is the plastic membrane that sits between the door metal and the interior door cards. Whip off the door card and see if the membrane is damaged or peeling away from the metal part of the door. It can even be the drain holes at the bottom of the door being blocked.

Other than that it could be a sign of a knackered heater matrix - more involving to fix to be honest.

sunroof drains blocked or door window seals leaking allowing water inside the door.... I have soaking carpet and it originates from halfway up the Apillar (you can tell by lifting carpet and seeing where the sound deadening is wet up to).

Thanks, lots of leads there! Its deffo not the sunroof though, as it hasnt got one.

The door seals sounds interesting. The passenger doors have had a scrape at some point and have filler at the bottom. Ill have to check to see if the drain holes have been obstructed.

Often after accident repair on the door skin the clear plastic membrane behind the door card is not replaced by the panelbeater and water comes in (it normally flows through the door when it rains and out the drain holes - the clear plastic membrane stuck to the inside of the door metal is the only thing stopping the door card and carpet getting wet). Even if still present it seems to shrink over time and split. Use new plastic sheet and gaffer tape or RTV sealant to patch or replace, and make sure that it is sealed all the way around. I have had to fix this on 3 1980s Audis I have owned.

try sealing around windscreen rubber/ aperture, using grease in an old mastic tube. forcing nozzle under rubber and filling with grease. worked on my ur and gti. or try moving striker plate in on door so door closese tighter on door.

Right way to fix it is to remove windscreen and install it again, only in UK that would cost "milions of pounds"
