if your TV supports it, you need to change the display settings on your laptop. Same as running dual displays.

Really depends on the age of both your TV and laptop...

You'll need to start by looking at the ports on both your Television and your laptop. They'll be at least one of the following connections; Composite, S-Video, VGA, DVI, or HDMI port for connecting an external display. However, you'll only be able to use whichever you have a corresponding port on your TV.
On the newer tv's (5-6 yrs old) HDMI is the preferred option, for older tv's you might be better trying the old fashion S-video connection since this will allow both audio and video connections using various ports.

Another thing to bare in mind is what operating system you are using on the laptop, and whether or not you have the correct software/drivers installed to be able to view its content on another device (ie tv). You may also need to check the tv settings/options to ensure that it is capable of mirror-imaging from another device (ie laptop).

In any case, you can always pm me if you need more help; the alternative being good old Google.
