Default Audi 100, '94. no heat

Due to limited time available, I'm going straight for the 'cry for help', instead of delving in myself and crying only when I have a pile of unrecognisable bits.

So. 1994 Audi 100 2.8e Quattro.
Interior heater(climate control) is simply not outputting any heat.
Andy, from whom I bought the car, mentioned something back in the misty past, which is long forgot now.

Some pointers as to where to start, BTDTGTSTS, even a full how to would be appreciated.
In the meanwhile, I'm off to do some more diagnosis on the V8, weather permitting.

Climate control equipped?

Most likely the motor for the mainflap is buggered,or the plastic arm has snapped

Check codes on panel before you go any further

You can get fault codes out of the panel.

My battery on phone is nearly out so just Google 'audi c4 climate codes'

I think i can say congrats, you may have to change this:

Don't use anything but the original part (Hella Behr), or you may have to do it every year. The radiator on the pic above was the Audi original (!), which is the same as Hella as far as i know. Lasted 23 years, so it is not so bad.

it's not leaking, thats for sure. the cooling system does lose a little water going out of the breather connection on the expansion tank. it's another small job, not done, on a car I didn't expect to keep this long.

Is this the flap control linkage that I should be thinking about?

And is this the motor connection?

Yes and your car is RHD so the majority of info about how quick and easy it is to do is wrong. You cant get the motor of with out removing the whole of the evap unit so you lose any charge, if you can live with this no problems as its a 20 min job to remove. If you want a more user friendly list of the check systems and other info PM me as I have the lot from earlier this year when I rebuilt the HVAC on my A6.

As a quick fix remove the cross head screw in the middle of the second picture push that unit to the drivers side of the car about 30mm and the motor arm will fall of then cable tie the other side with the arms pointing towards the front of the car.

Cheers

I've measured the supply to the motor. Never changes from 5v. I'm hoping to drive it manually to see if it's the motor or the controller.

NO and No again don't try to drive these manually they are feed back motors and you will start to get into all kinds of pain if you do . Options are remove clean and reassemble which will sort most stuck motors or drop the arm of cable tie in position and do the above when its warmer.
As for 13.5 when did you last clear the fault codes?? this is just a cycle warning not that its is or was stuck it could have just lost position due to being taken apart or various other factors.
00.# just rounding on the digital values of no concern as to use them you need to do a bit of graphing so 1dp accuracy is out of the window.
