Yes and no!

From the outside they look identical but the mechanism to attach the release bar and central locking to the handle differs. I have been able to successfully alter the VW mechanism to fit the door release bar very easily (drill 5mm hold in plastic plug - have pics to show if you need). Hadn't bothered trying to attach the central locking as I've got remote locking on mine.

It's definitely worth considering if you can't find any genuine Audi ones and much cheaper too. Paid £20 for a pair of brand new in the box handles.

I'm selling them soon actually as I broke a GT not so long ago and fitted the original handles to my car.

Dave,
O34 in the States sell very good ones with key and lock. I have two on my car. About 15 quid a piece if I remember.

I have bought 2 brand new handles from ebay £14 each, as the only door I can open is the drivers. Not too good in a 2 door car.
Currently have a mk1 golf on the passenger with a lock I have no key for.

Your welcome to the handle if u want one, just pm me and I will go swap the new ones for u

found these...

290533121970 door handle and key Right side

I've got a set of chromed handles complete with a pair of newly cut keys which I had on ebay for £25+ postage for the pair. Happy to sell to you for £20 + postage. Can supply pics should you wish. They are brand brand new!

PM me if you're interested.

The door latch section is different but can be modified very easily to work with the Coupe GT internals, Key lock is different slightly also but when you change the barrels over these can be transferred also to work too. Externals and bolt fixings area identical.

Depends if you're after complete originality or something that looks fine and works well that's cheaper than OEM!
