Not mine , unfortunately!!

If you are looking at this listing you will already know the S2 is a special vehicle. There were less than 400 Avants (more coupes) produced for the UK in right hand drive with an even smaller number of the rare Porsche fettled RS2.

Find a well maintained low owner example. One that needs work or has been neglected is bad news. Buy a good S2 and you have inexpensive super car performance, great reliability, 30mpg ecconomy on a run and a car you and your family can use in comfort.

Manufactured before Audi produced the RS2 this car benefits from modifications by MTM (Motoren Technic Mayer). MTM is a German tuning company for Audi and other vehicles made by the VW/ Audi group. The conversion was done by Kim Collins of Quattro Sports Tuning (QST) in Haywards Heath. QST are the only official MTM agent in the UK. The results are better than the RS2 and this car will sell for a lot less too.

I have owned it for nearly 12 years. When I bought it it had covered 56k miles. It had a full Audi service history with fully stamped book and had been previously sold through the main dealer network. At that time it was a standard car and I payed £14,000 for it.

I've never seen a grey one either - I know they made them - it was a standard colour - possibly not many ordered new as a 'dull' colour ( my wife always calls it "tarmac grey, a stealth colour" !! ) .
It does look particularly nicely maintained but would need much better than stock brakes even without the MTM aspect to the engine !!

The stock S2 brakes are fine if they're within specification. Unfortunately the system only posts warnings when things like hydraulic pump pressure get dangerously low - not when they're just substandard.

Titan gray same as my s2 avant tdi rep.

s2 stock brakes imo are useless, I had brand spanking new fresh discs/pads all round on my first s2 and they couldn't stop the car.

As martynf from vagparts said about his chipped s2 was with full interior = 1 high speed stop, without rear seats etc = 2 high speed stops.

Very heavy/powerfull car to be running the same brakes as the 20v 7a coupe's.

IMHO I'd agree, they are more than capable of triggering ABS on hot dry tarmac, and will hold down from very high speed to stationary... The problem only occurs when excessive heat has built up, and this occurs when the car is taken outside it's operating envelope, be that tackling a downhill mountain hairpin pass at full boost, or 10 laps of Castle Combe... The other thing that kills them is indifferent braking technique, or brake 'rubbing', rather than 'in, convert momentum into heat, and off again'...

That said, the 993 monobloc brake conversion does inspire a lot more confidence in the S2's ability and reduces heat build up concerns.

Incidentally... That's a lot of car for £3500!!! MTM mods were not cheap but are very reputable. You'd be hard pushed to buy and build a 360bhp 20vT engine for that.
