Another music thread ....can classic originals be outdone..
Was listening to a Paul McCartney and Wings cd on the way home from work. So the title says it all....Can classic originals be outdone? I grew up loving the James Bond films but I prefer the Gun's n Roses version I think

I've always struggled between these 2.
I loved the original by Led Zep, and then came along Far Corporation. Now get the pyre built, the brands lit, and burn me for heresy! I guess it really depends on the mood I'm in. The original goes more with a Floyd mood, (Pink, not pickled).

Generally speaking, I hate covers. It's a bit like movies now days, nothing's new and the remakes/sequels are usually not a patch on the originals. Sadly most (young) people don't even know that what they are listening to/watching is a cover/remake.
Having said that, I saw this band live back in about 1990 and out of the blue they did this: I was really impressed with how they did it (and they were much nicer on the eye than the originals too  )Each week, the TV series "The Money or the Gun" would feature a band covering Stairway To Heaven. But aside from that, I can't think of too many covers worthy of a listen, except maybe my own band's efforts Guns 'N' Roses?... can't possibly make their stuff worse! |
