Have been trying to resolve this starting issue for a month or more now.
Problem is : FIRST start of the day , engage starter, engine fires and then..... IF the throttle is so much as dabbed, the engine stalls and will not re-start for a while ( flooded ? ) If the accelerator is not touched, the engine shudders along at about 450rpm , just "chugging" and if left , the accelerator may be VERY gently tickled/dabbed AFTER about 30 seconds. Revs rise about 100rpm ....then after a few more dabs and by now about 50 seconds, the engine can be very gingerly accelerated up to about 1500rpm..... After which there are no further starting issues for the rest of the day. Have changed cold start valve and idle control valve plus both temperature senders on the block.( at least the water temp gauge works now! ) Running out of ideas. ![]() Any ideas gratefully received. PLEASE NOTE!!! My mistake, the engine is a NG code Last edited by Flying Frank; 14-11-14 at 07:44 PM. Reason: mistake in title. |

I have the exact same issue on my other CQ, which is in a very long list of things to do.
![]() I am not one for replacing random parts, but I had a hunch it was the warm up regulator not working when cold so not getting enough fuel. Take a look here from Mr Paynes site it might help..... http://www.isham-research.co.uk/quattro/pressure.html

I had an 90 2.3e which had the same problem although it did it pretty much everytime it started. |
