Default Quitting the Weed

I have just smoked my last cigarette and now it's time to go cold turkey and quit this habit for good. I have decided I now need to use the money more wisely (as well as give my lungs a rest) and so am setting up my Audi Restoration fund to achieve my aims.

It would be great if you could offer me any encouragement, advice and just general support while I do this especially over the next few weeks. I should be well practiced having given up many times now.

You will see a counter at the bottom of my threads to keep me honest and all the money saved will be going towards the car. Make no bones I have given up harder stuff over the years but this one as always been the hardest to let go of. Now is the time.

Wish me luck and anyone wishing to join me are more than welcome.

Martyn

Been there, done that, started again, gave up again!
Good luck fella, and hope you can stick to it! Not easy but well worth it.
5 years ago, I'd have been lucky to get 2 mile on a bike, now I can happily do 20-30 miles.
Which I need to to try and get rid of the middle aged spread which is made up of food and beer (mainly beer!).

Good luck Martyn. I only smoked once. Had five ciggies on the way to football training and threw up running round the pitch. That was the end of that. I did like a cigar when I'd had a pint. But I used to end up eating them..thought I was like Clint Eastwood chewing baccy. That made me throw up so I gave that up to lol.
How much do you spend a week cos what ever it is ..thats the real incentive..more dosh for the Coupe, so that's got to be good al round

Currently on 10 a day. So let say 3 quid a day. Plus whatever Jill tucks into

So just taking my own consumption then we rea looking at £21 a week or £84 a month average. Quite staggering really.

And I can remember getting 3 pints for a quid and filling my Suzuki AP50 up for less than 60p. Happy days

A grand a year, that is some amount of cash to simply burn away when you think about it. Might as well just smoke a fiver a day and be done with

Kid brother took it up did if or a while then just came out with it ans said, thats the last one. And it was, never touched another fag.
Quite odd how he just stopped there and then.

Best of luck on this Martyn, youll feel so much better and be richer too...more to spend on the old girl...and the coupe too.

Well Im afraid addictions and me are old buddies, being in recovery from alcohol and drugs now for 6 1/2 years..

I mention that, not for an ego boost,as nicotine is still the most addictive substance known to man.

All I can say is that with my addictions I use fellowships such as NA and AA.

There is Nicotine Anonymous for you if you choose to go down that route.Just passing this message on,as many dont know it exists.

Patches seem to work well I hear. You still obviously need to tough a certain amount out though.

I once heard a classic line. Will power is about as much use for your addiction as it is for diahorreah!!!

Good Luck matey!

Steve
