Default Front Suspension Arm Woes

Finally got the front suspension fitted up today. The plan was by the end of the evening to have the car sat back on all four wheels again ready to give her a good clean on Monday and start to look forward to enjoying summer.

Had a tough old fight getting the roll bar on (so much tension in that thing), managed to get my left hand pinned between the trolley jack and the car at one stage - don't ask but boy did I squeal.

Finally at 6pm I lowered her down ready to torque up the hub nuts and to clean the garage. Checked the suspension at the top mounts only to find both sides are sat proud but 2 -3mm. No probs i'll just tighten down the nuts...nope.

Took a closer look and it seems the peg nut is sitting proud of the top mount instead of being recessed in. Tried to tighten it down. No success. So unless anyone has any ideas it looks like the whole lot has to come back out again.

This is how both sides look. As soon as she's on wheels the mountings lift out

Removing the nut and cap shows the peg nut is sitting proud. It wasn't like this when I assembed the arms so I'm not sure why they both sit up.

How new are the top mount rubbers martyn? I had this on my CQ. The nut looks like its fully down, and any sag in the top mount rubber will allow the top cat to sit proud of the sturt top.

Jay, you are a superstar and a gentlemen my friend

Thanks very much for the kind offer. I'll give Pete Reeve a call and order some new ones just to be sure I get the right ones. I'm just wary that often coupe and quatty stuff doesn't always cross over.

The donkey work isn't too bad, especially now it's all been taken to bits and cleaned up anyway so I should be ok.

Worst part is I hummed and ahhed over changing them and opted not to....idiot.

Thanks again.
