Default The day I met my Idols!

When I was a quattro owners club area organiser in 1994, I was lucky enough to be invited to the 50th anniversary party for the RAC rally. I was sat at Michelle moutons table and I was totally overwhelmed by it all. I met and chatted with most of the top drivers including michelle and stig. I found them all very willing to talk apart from hannu mikkola. heres some pics taken that night of me with Carlos sainz, michelle, stig and bjorn Waldergard.me and michelle.jpg

you must have had an easy paper round- you looked like you were still in your school uniform
Looks like you're same age as me, although I've not worn so well

always wondered why you have the Spitfires on your avatar. Had a look at your interests and i see you're interested in aviation archeology. What is that exactly?

Daz, did you follow the story of the P-38 Lightning they rescued from the ice in the Arctic?
They built a custom circular burner to drill a core shaft down to the plane and pumped out the melted water. One of the 1st things they brought up was a nose canon, which they clamped to a 55 gal. drum on the ice and test fired.

At least 10 years ago. The plane has since been fully restored and flown.

i think i saw that. was it when a group of planes landed on a ice flow and they got lost for years .until some was saved but the smaller ones got crushed under the ice .they are slowly drifting down a glacier and now to deep to get . there are more down there ut its too expencive to get them out .
