I 'nearly' bought a Nissan Stagea 2 weeks ago from Brightweels Auction. We too have a big dog so big estate is a good idea, but soon saw the error of my ways!
If you asked on a Jap car forum, you'd be getting loads of ideas of the costs of the Legnum and the Stagea, but as you're on an Audi forum, you know we are always going to tell you to go Audi! Kenquattro off here as a very nice A6 2.7T avant and was within your budget when he bought it. Full leather interior, huge boot, and the 2.7T engine is just a detuned S4 bi turbo motor so you have the ability to squeeze out a lot more power for not much money! I'd plump for one of those if being sensible, or if mpg is not too much of a worry, then get an S2 avant as again, you'd get a lot of car (and power) for your money. Of course, the answers here will be vary biased! |

Yep , for that budget, it would be an A6 2.7t quattro Avant all the way. Second choice would be an A6 2.8 quattro Avant. Just do your homework, as the specs vary wildy on them due to the massive Option List when new. Don't discount a 530i Touring, though. I couldn't recommend a Merc. My brother swears by them. I think they are garbage, and a shadow of the old shool Mercs with regard to build quality and style. The Subaru Legacy is sopposed to be a very good car, too. Can't go wrong with an A6, though, Cheap as chips.

One on ebay right now, end today, £2200 earlier on. I got mine off the Autotrader, and had to drive from Liverpool to Bromley in Kent for it. Well worth it though, as the spec on it it is mega with it being a demo car new for one of the London Audi Centres.

Forgot to add, I paid £3150 for mine. Nov 99 V Plate, Ebony Pearl Black, Black fully electric heated Recaro leather, sunroof, Bose/6 Cd, Sat Nav/TV, Cruise, Xenons with headlamp wash, the list goes on. 115k miles, full history. Great car.

I would wait for a better spec one, personally. but it looks a fairly good'un. They are out there. You just need to keep looking through all the usual places. If it goes for £2200 and is as good as it looks, then it is a bargain. Don't discount the 2.8 quattro A6 Avant. They are far more common and usually have at least leather, though not Recaro, and Bose etc. Don't buy one without Bose! It's great.

They are very tunable. Ben at AVPerformance looks after mine, and I would reccommend him 110%. This is my second A6 and both have been very reliable, depreciation proof and a pleasure to own/drive.
