Default Any jobs in the Stoke area?

Just a heads up incase anyone knows of anything going.

Im a HGV1 Lorry driver and today the boss called me and the other drivers for a meeting on the yard. Apparently our main customer went into administration this morning- the existing order book has been cancelled, no more work from them, sent home from work.

Just had a phone call and theres no work for tomorrow either, but the boss is doing his best keep things going.

Were a small company with 4 drivers, the lost contract will mean we will have to lose 2 drivers atleast. It could send the whole company to the wall. Ill know for sure by the end of the week. We have other contracts dotted about, bot nowhere near enough to keep going as we are.

Im just preparing for the worst and seeing of anyone knows of any jobs going. Doesnt have to be driving a lorry, it could be anything. Im mechancally minded and can turn my hand to pretty much anything. Actually, I could do with a change from trucking so if I do get the chop, it could be just what the doctor ordered Be nice to jump, rather than being pushed....

Anthing out there?

sorry to hear about your job situation Tim. Totally different business but I have laid off a couple of workers last month and so have my colleagues. It's not nice at all on all sides.

Afraid I can't offer anything but good luck and hope things take a turn for the better for you.

Give me a shout tomorrow fella. Could do with another driver up that neck of the woods.

We do a lot of work out of Platts Garage in Longton (Fiats and Alfa's), as well as stuff in the Manchester/Runcorn/Liverpool area and Prees Heath Auctions.

and we also do a lot of commercial stuff for Ford, but only up to 7.5ton, but if you do get stuck for work fella, I'm pretty sure I could sort you out with something.
Also got a driver who lives in Werrington so you'd have someone you could hook up with as well.

Cheers Coxy, will do.

What business are you in anyway? Trade plate deliveries?

It may all be fine in the end, no harm in looking about though, incase the worst happens.

My boss is a great fella, best ive had infact. I know it will really break his heart to lay anyone off and it would affect him on a personal level. I wont take it personally if he has to get rid of me. Im sure hes got enough on his mind keeping his haulage business going down the pan.

That and car storage.
If you do find yourself at a loose end and the worst does happen, just drop me a pm with your number and I can soon have you started.
It's on a self-employed basis, but it's a whole lot better than a kick in the bollocks!
