Default LPG conversion?

Hi,

Anybody got a KE or K Jet car converted to LPG???

I do about 25000 miles a year and could recoup the cost in 6-12 months, assuming the car lasts that long (which it hopefully will do!).

Probably a closed loop non sequential system, getting feedback from the lambda

For god's sake, don't mess KE-jetronic with LPG Here, in latvia, is a lot of old audis with cheap LPG systems I have even seen B4 competition with one Most of them shares common problem - inability to work without problems on petrol. ECU does't hold iddle anymore, or it doesn't have power and other problems. Some of them, of coures, is just because of age and mileage, let's say, common problem of air mass potentiometer, which wears out but some of them are because k-jet isn't very good for LPG, especially ke-jet with it's electronics. Pure k-jet is better for such conversation.
I actually can't see reason, why such LPG system must have lambda feedback, these systems isn't accurate and with LPG it doesn't care anyway. I personally think, LPG system can be installed on carb or LPG injector on EFI, but in that case with programmable ECU to get maximum peformance My B3 had LPG system, when I changed engine, I throwed it out. Before that, guys, who serviced it, even managed to install filler from it's original location under rear bumper to place under fuel filler cap There was fun almost every time I went to s***oil [statoil] to fill - when attendant come to me, he almost allways looked at my rear bumper, when he didn't see anything and asked "where it is?", I opened cap

Thanks for the advice. I spoke to a guy who does conversons here, and he said it was best not to in case you get a backfire in the inlet manifold.......

Yeah, it can badly damage vane. But there is solution as well. I have seen 3A with rubber valve created on top of intake manifold, in case if there is backfire, it will let it escape, otherwise negative pressure will keep it closed. I have heared about funny solution for V6 with cheap LPG system as well - in intake manifold drilled large hole, which is plugged with plumbing plug, in case there is backfire, it's out only engine stalls as well

Well, I know one guy, who is using 1986 A100 with KU engine and LPG without problems - but it's k-jet and not ke-jet

Given the problems that I've had this past year with my daily driver (Volvo V40) on LPG - I wouldnt advise anyone to convert any car! Its a hit and miss affair as to whether your car will take well to it.
