Default 80 Sport Electrical Gremlins

When the indicator is ticking the voltage meter ticks as well, moves left & right very slightly, and when the lights are turned on the volt meter drops a tad. Is this normal? If it is normal I did not realise the volt meter is so live!

Also the oil temp stays very low like it is not working ? What should be the normal running temp for a B2 Sport? Maybe my temp sensor is dodgy.

Do these cars have a bad earth problem? I am wondering whether a weak earth is causing these issues, I was planning on re-earthing the car over the weekend just in case it is that.

Sorry if these look like stupid posts, I just don't know anything about a B2 Sport!

I'd check your earth's as it's more than likely just a bad earth which is causing it.
Unless your thraping your sport then temp will sit at about 80-90.

Thanks for that Coxy, my temp needle sits just above 60. I think I may have a dogdy temp sender. Will look into replacing that, I have got a haynes manual which came with the car so will get a bit anal over it on the weekend.

IMHO movements on the VM are quite normal; esp the latter. As Coxy says OT gauge usually 70 - 80 unless hammered or on long high speed motorway run, but I've have one that's up around 90 in a few miles. I don't think they are that accurate! Could be sensor: these are still around, but check connection first the tiny spade connection can fall off or internal wires break but look fine because outer sheath still in tact. Cheers.

My Voltmeter is up and down like a brides drawers depending what I have switched on. Strangely the blower fan really draws on the volts.

Thanks for the replies. Do your gauges light up at night with the lights on? Everything else lights up on the dash apart from the centre gauges. Are they supposed to light up?

In every shop that's big enough - bulbs like theese ones are in every B3, B4, C3, C4 [and newer ones too] - two of them in every switch in center console, three for heater controls [B2 have one for that], one for cigarette lighter and so on. That's one thing that I don't have problems to get in this banana republic i'm living
Coxy, how do u imagine bad earth in this case when dashboard's wiring harness have only one ground wire for all stuff in dashboard[except some optional equipment that have additional ground connection]?
