Default Wheel Spacers

Anybody on the forums know anything about wheel spacer/adapters from companies like H+R out of Germany? Supposedly the manufacture a 4 to 5 bolt conversion adapter which is only 10mm thick, bulletproof and light weight. Unconfirmed.

Depends what you want to use them for, some people stick them on to help fill out the arches and give the car a wider track, as long as they are hub centric and the correct pcd they'll work fine, some longer bolts will be needed though.

Equally you can use them to change between two different PCDs but those kits usually come with the bolts you need to attach them to your discs/drums then you bolt your new wheels onto them. I would have thought they'd need to be a bit thicker than 10mm to do that more like 15-20mm. Depending on arch space you may need to think about the ET of the wheels you are putting on so they don't rub on the arch as well.

Thanks, this is great info. I've gotten just far enough in my quest for info that I've realized that one way or the other, that even if I manage to change the bolt pattern, the potential offset is still a major limiting factor. Never mind the rim options. If I change from 4x100 to 5x112 to mount a Fuch 15x7(my ideal ), then the offset for the Fuch (38?or 45) plus the spacer (20mm) leaves me at least an inch off center. Hmmmm.

Also depends on the width of the wheel..

However, i've seen a coupe GT on you tube with something like a 15 ET? i think thats what he said.. whey were big.. too. but they fitted, and he claims they dont scrub. I'll see if i can find the vid.

I was running H R Spacers on my Golf 4x100- 5x130 they are the best out there in my opinion not cheap tho. Never had an issue with them. I did check them once a month tho to ensure they hadn't gone loose at all but never did.

I have a set of H&R adapters, 4x100 to 5x130.

A 25mm thick pair on the front and a 40mm pair on the rear. Same as 90Quattro never had a problem, just watch your bearings as they tend to wear a bit quicker, had to have both my stub axles replaced!

Minimum width you can get is 15mm, and some combinations, as the mentioned change from 4x100 to 5x112, will require a 2-piece adapter because otherwise the bolt holes will overlap in an unusable manner, sort of ending up with 2 half holes type thing.

Also as discussed the spacer/ adapter will alter the wheels ET but not as mentioned. Basically you subtract the width of spacer/ adapter from the ET. So my ET 60 wheels become 20 with my 40mm adapters -

PS steer clear of steel adapters as these weigh a ton and don't clear as well -

(I borrowed these from a friend to trial fit a set of wheels)
