My b2 80 sport has a stupid glass sunroof fitted, i'm doing a full restoration and would like a solid roof back on it. Does the B2 Audi 90 share the same roof skin?
Thanks in advance |

I understood that the two wheel drive shells were the same, although I can't see why the roof would be different on quattros.
VWAUDI car magazine did this same change, although their car was a 2.2 Quattro. In fact they had it done at GTi International ( when it was held at TRL Crowthorne -- probably about 1990/91). Saturday the glass roof version was removed and replaced , car went off to paintshop overnight and came back the next day for final finishing off etc! |

Thanks for the reply, that makes my search a bit easier. This car has turned from a small resto into a major lol

changing the whole roof panel is a bit dramatic,
Coxy's 80Q hillclimb car had a glass roof when he first got it, take a looksee at the build thread on here. |

80/90 shells share the same roof ,and im almost certain the 2 door 80 roof is identical,
replacing the complete skin is the proper way to do it, it will take a lot of metal shaping to hide the welding if its just sectioned in, its possible but labour intensive.

Yeah the problem is they have removed 2 of the cross support bars and the glass sunroof they fitted was massive. I have 2 old stock sunroofs and they fall through the whole its left lol.
So the only way i can see repairing it properly is unpicking the spot weld and replacing the roof skin complete |
