That's a good question, the sky's the limit with a 20vT...

A remap and a bigger intercooler will see you knocking on the door of 300 (290ish). But, and this is a big But...

It's got to be spot on healthy first... Anything that resembles a weakness... sensors not working properly, boost leaks (a classic nightmare fault), fuel starvation at full boost etc will all become much bigger issues when upping the boost...

A kkk24k is good for circa 300bhp, anything after that is a turbo change... Conventional wisdom says 350 for standard rods, (achieved with RS2 inlet/exhaust etc) but I've seen 400 running standard bottom ends... Then, after the 'scat' rods and modified pistons rebuild on the bottom end and custom remap it's just a case of modified inlet, exhaust, turbo, intercooler and fuel/mixture control... All the way to the 1000bhp blocks...

Oh, I forgot, also a huge bank account, 20vT's are cheap hp in name only...

Yes, 285bhp can come cheap, but the jump to 315bhp/350bhp is expensive... The next 'expensive' jump is over the 380/400bhp (bottom end) hurdle.

Keeping within stock rev limits will go a long way towards keeping it all reliable.

Javed from 034 motorsport ran a 10valver -unopened engine btw, for two years in race trim at outputs of 500bhp ish before he lost a valve head which destroyed the motor.
20valvers got more potential for sure so i dont see 400bhp being beyond std components if detonation is avoided and fuelling and coolngs kept under control.
I certainly hope to see 400 bhp and then some on the 20 vt i have...
