Default I've Lost My Keys and.........

Seriously, I have lost my keys for the SWB and before you ask me, 'where were you when you last had them'......................I haven't got a clue. All I can tell you is that I have done a complete forensic search of my property to no avail.

After spending 3 days of tirelessly searching, I contacted Audi who told me they would need to e-mail someone and later left a message with my wife saying that they could not help. So, is there anyone else I can contact or is it a case of buying a second hand lock and ignition set.

As you can imagine this is extremely annoying as I was looking to MOT the car this week.

The little square tag* supposedly would enable the dealer to generate a new set of keys. I tried. The dealers could give a damn. That was about a decade ago.

Should not be with the main bunch of keys, otherwise....

I'm not sure this will help but I have two brand new uncut audi keys, one is definitely to fit a type 44 but the other may be for an older model, ill dig it out. Is there any way of knowing if it's the right one?

After visiting several acclaimed 'automotive' locksmiths and getting no where, I phoned several companies. The last one I looked at was DG Auto Keys and after he asked the usual questions, he said he would call later if I text my details.

To my surprise I had a knock on the door about an hour later and two youngish blokes turned up, took my door handle and within seconds had picked the lock. They then proceeded to work out the code using some device, looked the information up on the laptop, put a card into a machine and that was it, a new key was cut. I just need a couple of blanks now and I'll get a couple more done in preparation for next time.

All for the price of £30!

Interestingly they do all the modern stuff and program the key fobs etc. Their details are dannygabbitas@live.co.uk and the number is 07577240470.

PS Audi could not help me, they do not retain data on my car as it is over 15 years!

PPS When I was having a meltdown with the Parts Manager the other day after this not surprising news, they couldn't even tell me what oil went into my RR........, but then again it is over 15 years old. FFS!

That's a good price, having said that, they came to me fo £30. The only annoying thing is that in the end I didn't have to take the door handle off. Just hope it goes back on just as easy.

Can you post up the details of the shop John so that we have it for future reference?

I don't think anyone on here would be surprised at your experience with Audi.

The parts chap at my local dealer has so far been helpful, but I can tell there seems little in place to offer the older car. What really surprised me was the fact he hadn't heard of Audi Tradition! How long have AT been going now? Makes a nonsense of what Audi claims to be a service available to their dealers too...

I was talking to the legendary Eltee, just yesterday, and he mentioned something very similar about staff. They're not helping themselves, are they?
