Iv just bought mk1 TT leather front seats for my "80" cab, they are different underneath, iv found out this evening, and rather keep a factory look if possible and hope to transplant my seat bits to the TT seats, has anyone done this? and did it work?
Thanks Mark Last edited by flyingdragon248; 12-07-14 at 09:00 PM. |

This is a great Forum however most folk on here don't tend to modify there cars much from stock as many prefer to keep them or restore them as per Audis intention. Might be an idea to pop onto S2forum if you are looking for info on mods as the S2/Coupe/Saloon/Avant and Cab all had the same seat fitments so definitely possible someone on there has done the mod...

Didnt know about the forum mate to be honest, well thats the only mod im making to it, i rather like the car as it is, but not fussed on the front seats, never have been, dont find them very supporting. The replacements are factory Audi bin, so dont feel im going away to far from the car. The rear seats i will get the centers re trimmed in leather at a later date when funds allow, or i can get a good rear leather seat already, that would be better!

I'm in total agreement the standard seats are crap and I was lucky to find a set of manual Recaros to go in mine and my Quattro cabby has a set of Porsche seats to go in it when it's on the road and my brother is about to fit golf mk3 Recaros in his cab.
The intent of my reply was to point you in the right direction to get some info not to knock your plans....

Not taken to hart honestly, would be nice to find them Recardos, but they will take a very long time to find, i did think of vr6 front seats, think they would have worked, but, getting a good set is hard again, where TT seats are still fairly newish, even the mk1 TT like iv just bought, low miles car so in very good condision, and also heated! not that i will use the cab in the winter, but you never know!

The TT is based on the golf / a3 / octavia
Might be worth selling them on and finding an s2 interior? Cheers Steve

S2 seats are the same as the cab - shit.
Best option is OEM electric Recaros, but they are rare and expensive. You can use C4 platform S4/S6 seats which fit straight onto the B3/B4 platform height adjustable subframes. They are much more supportive than the cab seats, bigger bolsters & adjustable thigh squab. Only issue with those is that they don't tilt as standard. I modified a set to tilt a few years ago to go in my coupe - you need to harvest the parts from a set of coupe/cab seats and strip the backrest down to the bare frame a cut & weld a couple of bits - pretty easy but time consuming and not for the feint hearted. ![]() ![]() |

To be fair they look nice!
Well decided the TT seats are going to be far to much trouble, dont want to drill holes on my floor to fit the runner or chop them about, so managed to get hold of mk3 golf vr6 full leather seats today, in nice condision, straight swap too! given the rear seats also, so may have the leather to remove, and re stich into my standard rears ...... |

Your other option is to contact Cobra seats as they can do a custom install on some of their seat ranges. I looked at it a while back when I had my DC2 Integra R as I didn't like the factory alcantara Recaros and wanted red leather cobras.

Fitting mk4 seats involves cutting off front mount intended for stock seats and welding in place mount from mk4. Several people have done this before, I'll also go that route as soon as car will be able to go to weldor using it's own power.
I can't agree. Base seats do their job reasonably well. The only reason why I'm going to fit something else is "just because". |
